Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) is a cutting-edge engineered wood product that's transforming how we build everything from homes to high-rise buildings. Think of it as super plywood on steroids—but made from solid lumber and designed for serious structural performance.
What Is CLT?
CLT is made by stacking layers of kiln-dried lumber boards perpendicularly (each layer rotated 90° from the previous) and bonding them with structural adhesives. This cross-lamination gives the panel strength in both directions, making it incredibly rigid and stable.
Typically made with 3, 5, or 7 layers.
Manufactured in large panels—up to 60 feet long and 10 feet wide.
Cut to precise dimensions using CNC machines, including openings for doors and windows.
Why CLT Is a Game-Changer?
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Strong enough for multi-story buildings, yet lighter than concrete or steel.
Fast Installation: Prefabricated panels reduce on-site labor and waste.
Thermal & Acoustic Performance: Excellent insulation and soundproofing properties.
Fire & Seismic. Resistance: Performs well under fire and earthquake conditions.
Sustainability: Made from renewable wood, with a lower carbon footprint than traditional materials.
Common Uses:
-Walls, floors, and roofs in residential and commercial buildings.
-Long-span structures like auditoriums and sports halls.
-Hybrid systems with glulam beams and CLT panels.
-Modular and prefabricated construction.
CLT is often compared to glulam, but here's the key difference: glulam laminates run in the same direction, while CLT layers are cross-oriented, giving it multi-directional strength. It's not just a material—it's a movement toward greener, faster, and smarter construction.
Nantong Wellhouse Architectural Technology Co., Ltd. was established under the guidance of green building and sustainable development concepts, specializing in the research, development, and production of glued laminated timber (glulam) and timber structure products. The factory is characterized by a high degree of mechanization and standardization, creating an efficient and intelligent production environment.
Relying on a mature production system and professional team, the company boasts a monthly production capacity of up to 2,000 cubic meters. Its core products include glued laminated timber (glulam), solid wood wall panels, and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), which are widely used in the field of timber structure construction.
The company provides full-cycle, integrated services encompassing architectural design, budget estimation, production, manufacturing, and construction installation. It covers diverse project types such as large-scale venues, villas, and timber bridges, ensuring efficient project progression through professional technical coordination and full-course construction support.
